About Us

The Thompson Chamber of Commerce was established in 1961 and, with over 140 members, it is the largest chamber of commerce in Northern Manitoba. Our mission statement is: “To promote and improve trade, commerce, and economic well-being in the City of Thompson and its trading area”. An Office Manager and a volunteer Board of Directors are responsible for fulfilling this mission statement. ## What is a Chamber of Commerce? A chamber of commerce is a non-profit organization with two main purposes: 0. 1. To promote the general business interests of the members 0. 2. To foster the growth of commerce and industry in a particular area or region. Both businesses and individuals can become members, whether or not they are actively involved in trade and commerce.

Events

## Monthly Members Lunch Meetings (3rd Wednesday of every month) These meetings have been virtual on TEAMS platform due to COVID, however, we are hoping to bring back in person meetings shortly. We host the meetings at 12 noon to 1:00 pm with a variety of interesting guest speakers. ## Annual General Meeting At the annual general meeting, elections are held for the President, 1st Vice President, Secretary, and up to eight other members. ## Northern Business Week (3rd week of October) We provide informative events, presentations and discussions that pertain to northern businesses. ## Northern Chambers Meeting Northern Chambers of Commerce gather to discuss events and policy resolutions that pertain to northern Manitoba. Meetings take place 1 to 4 times per year based on issues to be discussed.
